Installation of mechanical services to a multi-use education development

St John’s School, Leatherhead, Surrey
Brief

Our brief was to install all mechanical services to the new three-storey, innovative teaching block incorporating a library, workshop and classrooms. The ‘Henry Dawes’ Centre is a state-of-the-art teaching building split into two elements either side of a central atrium. The first block provides a library, mathematics, business studies and economics departments. The second block contains the design and technology and art departments.

Solution

We undertook the design and installation of central plant services to a ‘pod’ plant room. We installed low-temperature, hot water, under floor heating systems with perimeter trench heating, radiators to the first and second floors. Also, domestic water services, above ground drainage, ventilation to WC blocks on each floor, dark room flame-guarded extract system and air conditioning for hub rooms.

Outcome

We successfully completed a state-of-the-art teaching block on time and on budget, providing a modern teaching facility integrated within a student campus containing historic Victorian buildings.
