Installation of new mechanical, electrical and plumbing services to a Grade II-listed Clubhouse, in the heart of London

Oxford and Cambridge Club, Pall Mall, London
Brief

To provide new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and controls within the existing plant room and to replace the existing kitchen supply and extract plant and ventilation services. The work was programmed so that the services infrastructure was installed whilst the club was in occupation.

Solution

All new ventilation, air handling units and hot water generators were installed over a three week summer recess whilst the club was closed for their summer shutdown. The main plant room and controls were stripped out whilst the hot water was modified and retained to serve the club whilst in occupation so as not to affect the day-to-day running of the club. All the new heating and hot water plant, equipment, controls and associated pipework were installed and phased prior to the clubs summer closure where possible.

A weekend shutdown of Pall Mall enabled Metromec to lift out all the existing ventilation equipment and replace with the new supply and extract air handling units and fans. The existing hot water generators and 3rd floor plant room were then stripped out. Over a three-week intense period, all ventilation and mechanical, plumbing and controls were installed and commissioned.

Outcome

The club reopened, with all the services in operation. The work was completed on time and within the client’s budget.
