Our brief was to undertake the design and installation of mechanical services to a new multi-facilities building within an extensive prison complex. Work was to be undertaken with strict limited access controls, limited storage space, and to strict programme restraints. Further consideration for works development was that all adjacent and adjoining buildings were in full occupation for the duration of the project.
Installation of new heating, domestic and ventilation services on a ‘just-in-time’ basis were undertaken. This Included the provision of a new plant room incorporating the installation of an 110kw combined heat and power unit complete with heat rejection unit. The provision of new domestic services and the removal of redundant boilers, calorifiers and associated equipment, was also completed.
The extensive project was completed on time and within budget, despite the limitations and constraints placed on works due to the secure nature of the facility.
