Awarded annual planned preventative maintenance contract for historical building

Awarded annual planned preventative maintenance contract for historical building
Brief

1 Birdcage Walk is a highly regarded building with traditional architectural features situated within a few hundred yards of the Houses of Parliament. Metromec were employed to undertake the planned preventative maintenance of the mechanical and electrical services. The building contains many spaces which have different functions. The majority of the services are over twenty years old and in many areas there has been a programme of works to update these services.

Solution

An independent consultant advised and compiled a specification for routine service and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical services. This included planned and reactive maintenance, together with a number of capital expenditure projects derived from a list of essential works needed. Metromec were subsequently awarded the contract following a competitive tender and interview process.

Outcome

Metromec have continued to maintain the mechanical and electrical services within the building for several years and have carried out a number of capital expenditure projects, such as the replacement of the building gas fired boilers. In accordance with our planned preventative maintenance planner we attend the premises at least one day per week, undertaking works within the annual maintenance schedules and carrying out repairs and replacements where required to keep the building running smoothly and safely.
